XLSF | Data filters act like Salesforce report criteria and are available in Excel

Data filters are available directly in CloudExtend Excel for Salesforce and they allow you to limit the data you download from Salesforce into Excel (you most likely don't want to download 1 million records!). 

Once your template is loaded in Excel the data filter becomes available in our app. Simply click it, select the Object and fields for the filter, and add your criteria (for example Leads->Created Date-> < 5 days ago. For the SOQL geeks among us, you can see your SOQL statement being generated at the bottom of the App. Once you save the filer you can even come back and modify the SOQL directly!
