FAQ: Configuring ExtendInsights for Data Management NetSuite to Treat Warnings as Errors

ExtendInsights Data Management | Control how warnings are handled during uploads

Updated over a week ago

What does “Treat Warnings as Errors” mean?

By default, when ExtendInsights for Data Management receives a warning from NetSuite (for example, Vendor Credit Limit Exceeded), it:

  • Completes the requested action

  • Displays the warning in yellow text in the reserved status column

This is expected behavior and allows processing to continue.

When Treat Warnings as Errors is enabled:

  • ExtendInsights stops the action

  • The row is marked as an error

  • The message is displayed in red text

  • The record is not created or updated in NetSuite

This setting is useful when warnings should block data changes and require review before proceeding.

When should I enable this setting?

Enable Treat Warnings as Errors if:

  • Warnings should prevent records from being created or updated

  • You want stricter data governance

  • Your process requires manual review of all warnings before submission

Leave it disabled if warnings are acceptable and should not block uploads.

Prerequisite

Before enabling this option, you must have a custom ExtendInsights settings record created in NetSuite.

👉 If you haven’t done this yet, complete the setup in the ExtendInsights settings record configuration guide, then return to this article.

How to Configure “Treat Warnings as Errors”

Follow the steps below in NetSuite:

Step 1: Locate the ExtendInsights Settings Record

  1. In NetSuite, use the Global Search.

  2. Search for:
Celigo CENS Batch Size Setting Record

  3. Select the first matching page result.

Step 2: Edit the Warning Setting

  1. Locate the field named treatWarningsAsErrors.

  2. Click Edit.

Step 3: Enable the Setting

  1. Set the Value field to:
    True

  2. Click Save.

Once saved, ExtendInsights will begin treating all NetSuite warnings as errors.

What happens after enabling this?

  • Any NetSuite warning will:

    • Stop the upload for that row

    • Display a red error message

  • Users must correct the issue before resubmitting the data

This behavior applies to all ExtendInsights Data Management operations.

Notes & Best Practices

  • This setting is global for ExtendInsights Data Management

  • Consider testing in Sandbox before enabling in Production

  • Communicate the change to end users so they understand why uploads may stop on warnings
