Troubleshooting: Custom Roles Cannot Generate Financial Reports When Multiple Currencies Is Disabled

ExtendInsights FRE | Resolve report generation and Quick Start errors for custom NetSuite roles

Earlier versions of ExtendInsights Financial Reporting could fail to generate reports or run Quick Start queries when Multiple Currencies was disabled in NetSuite.

This behavior primarily affected users connected through custom, non-administrator NetSuite roles.

This issue has been fixed. ExtendInsights Financial Reporting no longer requires Multiple Currencies to be enabled to generate reports or run queries.

Error and Symptoms

Before the fix, users could experience one or more of the following:

  • ExtendInsights could not generate a financial report.

  • Quick Start queries did not run.

  • Reports worked with the NetSuite Administrator role but failed with a custom role.

  • NetSuite sent recurring SuiteScript Error Summary emails containing:

Search error occurred: Record 'consolidatedexchangerate' was not found.

The issue occurred when:

  • Multiple Currencies was disabled in the NetSuite account.

  • The user connected ExtendInsights through a custom, non-administrator role.

  • NetSuite did not expose the Currency permission for the custom role.

Why This Happened

ExtendInsights previously attempted to access consolidated exchange rate information while generating reports and running Quick Start queries.

When Multiple Currencies was disabled account-wide, NetSuite did not expose the Currency permission in the custom role configuration. Administrators could not assign the permission required by the previous report-generation process.

Administrator roles were less likely to encounter the issue because they had broader account access.

Resolution

ExtendInsights has been updated so that Multiple Currencies is no longer required to:

  • Generate financial reports.

  • Run Quick Start queries.

  • Use a custom, non-administrator NetSuite role.

No NetSuite permission or feature configuration change is required to resolve this issue after the fix is deployed.

Do not enable Multiple Currencies solely to resolve this report-generation error.

After the release is available:

  1. Open ExtendInsights Financial Reporting.

  2. Connect using the affected custom NetSuite role.

  3. Generate the report or run the Quick Start query again.

  4. Confirm that the operation completes successfully.

Expected Currency Symbol Behavior

The Multiple Currencies setting still affects how currency symbols appear on downloaded amounts:

NetSuite configuration

Expected result

Multiple Currencies is enabled and the connected role has the Currency permission

Downloaded amounts include the applicable currency symbol.

Multiple Currencies is disabled

Downloaded amounts do not include a currency symbol.

Multiple Currencies is enabled, but the connected role does not have the Currency permission

Downloaded amounts do not include a currency symbol.

A missing currency symbol under these conditions is expected behavior and does not mean the report failed.
