Prepare the Customer Template

Before building the template, review the NetSuite form and identify the fields required for your account.

In the NetSuite Classic interface, go to Lists → Relationships → Leads → New.

In the ExtendInsights template builder, select the Customer record type. A template may include:

Notes

NetSuite Administrator: Grant the Customer Status Permission

The NetSuite role assigned to the user must have permission to access the Customer Status field.

  1. In NetSuite, go to Setup → Users/Roles → Manage Roles.

  2. Edit the role assigned to the ExtendInsights user.

  3. Under Permissions → Setup, add Customer Status and set the permission level to at least View.

Without this permission, the user may see the following error:

Permission violation: You need the 'Customer Status' permission to access this page.

Create Lead or Prospect Records

1. Enter the Record Details

Enter values directly into the ExtendInsights template, or copy and paste them from another source. Make sure the source data matches the template’s structure and field types.

2. Set Entity Status

Choose the status that will determine whether the record is created as a lead or prospect. Entity Status is a list-type field. You can enter a value in any of these ways:

  • Type enough of the status name for ExtendInsights to look it up.

  • Enter the status’s NetSuite Internal ID wrapped in double brackets, for example [[123]].

  • Select a value from Cell Operations in the ExtendInsights panel.

💡 Note: If Entity Status is not included in the template, the record will be created as a customer.

3. Upload the Records

When the template is ready, click Upload to NetSuite, then click Upload Records.
