ExtendInsights reads and writes NetSuite metadata, including custom fields, picklist values, and ExtendInsights-specific configurations. When changes are made in NetSuite, you may need to refresh metadata so those updates appear in ExtendInsights.
This article explains the three supported ways to refresh metadata, depending on what type of information you need to update.
Choose What You Need to Refresh
Custom fields added to NetSuite → Refresh template metadata
ExtendInsights metadata customizations (dependencies, account search workarounds) → Refresh record metadata
New or updated picklist values → Refresh picklist selection
Option 1: Refresh Custom Fields in a Template
Use this method when:
New custom fields were added in NetSuite
Recently created fields don’t appear in the template builder
Steps
Open a new worksheet or tab in Excel.
Enable Start with a Template.
Select Create New Records with Template.
Hover over the template you want to refresh from the Custom Templates tab.
Click the three-dot menu (⋯) then Edit.
The template builder will appear, click the three-dot menu (⋯) → Refresh
Use the search box or scroll to check if the missing fields are showing.
Add the fields, then save changes.
ExtendInsights reloads the metadata for that template, including newly added custom fields.
Option 2: Refresh ExtendInsights Metadata Customizations
Use this method if your organization uses ExtendInsights metadata customizations, such as:
Field dependencies
Account search workarounds
Other configurations are stored in the Celigo CENS Metadata Setting Record
Steps
Open a new worksheet or tab in Excel.
Select Create New Records (no template required).
Search for and select the record type where the customization applies.
Example
NetSuite Admin added metadata configuration for Advanced Intercompany Journal Entry
Wait for the loading process to complete.
Click Cancel and return to your original worksheet where the template is loaded.
Check if the field dependencies are working.
This refreshes all standard fields, custom fields, and ExtendInsights metadata for that record type.
Option 3: Refresh Picklist Values
Use this method when:
New picklist values were added in NetSuite
Existing values were updated or activated
Values are missing from the picklist in ExtendInsights
Steps
Click a cell in your template that uses a picklist field.
Expand the picklist panel.
Click the three-dot menu (⋯) in the picklist search box.
Select Refresh.
Use the search box and check if the item is appearing on the list.
ExtendInsights clears the cached values and retrieves the latest picklist options from NetSuite.
