Quick Overview

Why Installation Method Matters

ExtendInsights is installed as a Microsoft Office Add-in. The method you use to install it directly affects how future updates are delivered — this is the most important factor in choosing an approach.

If in doubt, check with your admin first to see which option you should select.

Install ExtendInsights

OPTION 1 (End User): Install from Microsoft AppSource

💡 Note: Microsoft makes frequent changes to this process based on your OS and Outlook/Excel version.

The easiest way for individual users to install ExtendInsights is directly from the Microsoft AppSource store unless your admin prefers centralized deployment. Updates are delivered automatically — you will always have the latest version without any manual reinstallation.

📘 Check with your Microsoft 365 Admin first — they may have already deployed ExtendInsights centrally, in which case it will already appear in your Excel without any installation needed.

Add a new Excel add-in

  1. On the Home tab, select Add-ins.

  2. On the My Add-ins page, select More Add-ins.

  3. On the Apps page, search for ExtendInsights Financial Reporting

  4. From the description page, select Add and follow the prompts to install.

OPTION 2 (Admin): Centralized Deployment via Admin Center

For IT admins, Centralized Deployment is the recommended method for rolling out ExtendInsights across an organization. The add-in is deployed once from the Microsoft 365 Admin Center and appears automatically in Excel for all assigned users — no action required from users.

Centralized Deployment is not available for all versions of Microsoft 365. For example, Microsoft 365 Apps for Business does not support centralized deployment while Microsoft 365 Business Standard does. For more information on determining if centralized deployment of Office Add-ins works for your organization, see this official Microsoft article.

Prerequisites

Single Sign-On Troubleshooting Tips

In most cases, NetSuite will recognize your use Single Sign On.

  1. After you have obtained your troubleshooting URL, continue with the Connect to NetSuite process by selecting Menu->Connections->Add Connection and continue the process until you get to the screen below (first-time users may be prompted to enter their account number rather than going through the menu).

On this screen, which appears after you enter your account number, select Troubleshoot SSO URL and enter the URL from your clipboard on the next screen. This will then log you into NetSuite via the UI.

⚠️ ADMINS - Important: if you are an admin, NetSuite does not allow signing in with SSO. For admins, enter https://system.netsuite.com as your SSO troubleshooting URL. If the above URL does not prompt you to log in, then use your NetSuite dashboard URL (such as https://123456.app.netsuite.com where you replace 123456 with your account number).

At this point, you have successfully reset your SSO login and can close the browser and restart the sign-in process from CloudExtend, where your SSO process will be recognized.

❗️If you have more than one NetSuite account, be sure to navigate to the desired account before closing the window.

💡 Note: If you received an error here, it generally means your account does not have proper permissions. Ask your Admin to review the prerequisites here in our help center.

Obtaining the URL for your NetSuite login using Microsoft Azure AD as your Identity Provider

Step 1: Go to https://myapplications.microsoft.com/ in your browser.

Step 2: Click the ellipse in the NetSuite tile.

Step 3: Copy the link (you will use this link for Step 4 above).
