Admin: Enable Multiple Fiscal Calendars for ExtendInsights Financial Reporting

ExtendInsights FRE | Enable Multiple Calendars and grant the Fiscal Calendars permission in NetSuite

Applies to: NetSuite OneWorld accounts that use multiple fiscal calendars

ExtendInsights Financial Reporting requires access to the appropriate fiscal calendar when calculating results with XAVI formulas.

When users connect through a non-administrator role, a NetSuite administrator must:

  • Enable the Multiple Calendars feature.

  • Grant the role the Fiscal Calendars permission with View access.

Symptoms / Error Message

If Multiple Calendars is not enabled or the connected role does not have the required permission:

  • XAVI formulas do not return results.

  • An error notification appears in ExtendInsights.

  • Users may see one of the following messages:

    • An internal error occurred.

    • Your connection lacks the required permission, or this feature is not enabled. Contact your NetSuite administrator.

  • The Fiscal Calendars permission does not appear when configuring the role.

Why This Happens

NetSuite makes the Fiscal Calendars permission available only when the Multiple Calendars feature is enabled.

Enabling the feature does not automatically grant the permission to non-administrator roles. A NetSuite administrator must add it to the role used for the ExtendInsights connection.

How to Resolve the Issue

The following steps must be completed by a NetSuite administrator.

Step 1: Enable Multiple Calendars

  1. In NetSuite, go to Setup > Company > Enable Features.

  2. Select the Accounting subtab.

  3. Under Advanced Features, select Multiple Calendars.

  4. Click Save.

Step 2: Grant the Fiscal Calendars Permission

  1. Go to Setup > Users/Roles > Manage Roles.

  2. Locate the role used to connect ExtendInsights and click Edit.

  3. Select the Permissions subtab.

  4. Select the Lists subtab.

  5. In the Permission dropdown, select Fiscal Calendars.

  6. Set the access level to View.

  7. Click Add.

  8. Click Save.

If Fiscal Calendars is not available in the permission dropdown, confirm that the Multiple Calendars feature was enabled and saved successfully.

Verification

After completing the NetSuite configuration:

  1. Return to Excel.

  2. Open ExtendInsights.

  3. Reconnect using the updated NetSuite role.

  4. Refresh the report or recalculate the XAVI formulas.

The formulas should return financial data without displaying the feature or permission error.

Best Practices

  • This configuration applies to NetSuite OneWorld accounts that use multiple fiscal calendars.

  • The exact NetSuite permission name is Fiscal Calendars.

  • The permission is located under Permissions > Lists on the role record.

  • View access is sufficient for ExtendInsights Financial Reporting.

  • Make sure you update the same role the user selected for their ExtendInsights connection.
