Background Upload, formerly called Burst Upload, is designed for large uploads and for submitting multiple jobs without waiting for each one to finish.
After you submit a job, it runs asynchronously in NetSuite. You can continue working in other ExtendInsights workbooks, close Excel, and return later to check the job status and results.

What Happens During a Background Upload?
When you start a Background Upload:
ExtendInsights submits the upload job to NetSuite.
NetSuite processes the records asynchronously.
You can submit additional ExtendInsights jobs while the upload is running.
The job continues running if you close Excel.
Check the Upload Status
While a Background Upload is running, an orange ribbon bar appears in the ExtendInsights panel.
Click Check Status to open the Upload Status page.
From this page, you can:
View active jobs and their estimated completion times.
Manually refresh a job’s status.
Review completed uploads in the job history.
Filter jobs by successful or failed status.
Open detailed logs to troubleshoot a job.
You don’t need to download the results manually when a Background Upload finishes. ExtendInsights automatically updates the workbook with the results.

NetSuite Transaction Line Limits
NetSuite limits the number of lines allowed in a transaction. The limit depends on the transaction type and whether the request is synchronous or asynchronous.
Transaction type | Real-Time Upload | Background Upload |
Journal Entries | 1,000 lines | 10,000 lines |
Other transactions | Up to 5,000 lines | Up to 5,000 lines |
Oracle describes 5,000 lines as the maximum for SOAP web services under favorable conditions. Actual limits can vary by transaction type, and large transactions can affect performance. Check Oracle’s transaction line item documentation for details. Usage Notes for Transaction Record Types
