Troubleshooting: XAVI Formula Returns N/A

ExtendInsights FRE | Identify and resolve errors returned by XAVI formulas

ExtendInsights Financial Reporting uses XAVI formulas to retrieve financial data from NetSuite. If a formula cannot retrieve or calculate the requested data, the cell returns N/A and provides a more descriptive error message.

Use the error details to identify what needs to be corrected.

Symptoms / Error Message

You may encounter the following behavior:

  • A cell containing a XAVI formula displays N/A.

  • A warning icon appears when you select or hover over the affected cell.

  • Selecting the warning icon displays additional information about the error.

Why This Happens

A XAVI formula may return N/A when:

  • The account number referenced in the formula does not exist in NetSuite.

  • The formula contains an incorrect or unsupported value.

  • ExtendInsights cannot retrieve the requested data.

  • An HTTP error interrupts communication between ExtendInsights and NetSuite.

The detailed error message identifies the reason the formula could not resolve.

How to Resolve the Issue

Review the Error Message

  1. Locate the cell displaying N/A.

  2. Hover over or select the affected cell.

  3. Click the warning icon.

  4. Review the detailed error message.

  5. Correct the formula or its referenced values based on the message.

  6. Recalculate or refresh the report.

If the Account Does Not Exist

  1. Review the account number used in the XAVI formula.

  2. Confirm that the account exists in NetSuite.

  3. Check that the account number matches the value stored in NetSuite.

  4. Correct the account number in the formula or its referenced cell.

  5. Recalculate the formula.

If an HTTP Error Occurs

  1. Confirm that your internet connection is active.

  2. Verify that ExtendInsights remains connected to NetSuite.

  3. Refresh the report or recalculate the formula.

  4. If the error continues, reconnect to NetSuite and try again.

Verification

The issue is resolved when:

  • The cell displays the expected financial value instead of N/A.

  • The warning icon no longer appears.

  • Refreshing or recalculating the report does not return the same error.

Best Practices

  • Review the detailed error message before changing the formula.

  • Confirm account numbers and other formula inputs directly in NetSuite.

  • If the formula references another Excel cell, check the value in that cell.

  • Compare the affected formula with a working XAVI formula in the same report.

  • When contacting Support, include the formula, detailed error message, and a screenshot of the affected cell.
