Retrieve Data: Filter Records by Fields With No Value

ExtendInsights Data Management | Retrieve records where a field is blank or null

Use a Data Filter rule to find NetSuite records where a field has no value. This can help you identify incomplete records, such as transactions missing a location, department, or another required or expected field.

Enter the No-Value Keyword

In the rule’s Value field, enter:

[[@NONE@]]

This keyword tells ExtendInsights to retrieve records where the selected NetSuite field is null or blank. Do not select a value from the dropdown.

How to Filter for Fields with No Value

When creating a Data Filter (rule) in ExtendInsights, you can explicitly filter for empty values by using a special keyword.

Use This Value

[[@NONE@]]

This tells ExtendInsights to retrieve records where the selected field is null or blank in NetSuite.

Example: Find Vendor Bills With No Location

To retrieve Vendor Bills where the header-level Location field is empty:

  1. Start Search and Download, with or without an existing template.

  2. Turn on Apply Filters, then select Using Rules.

  3. Add a filter rule:

    • Field: Location

    • Value: [[@NONE@]]

  4. Click Save.

  5. Click Download Data.

The results include Vendor Bills where the header-level Location field is null or blank.

The results include Vendor Bills where the header-level Location field is null or blank.

Common Use Cases

Use this filter to:

  • Find transactions missing required or expected fields.

  • Identify records that need cleanup.

  • Retrieve records for targeted updates in ExtendInsights.

If the Results Don’t Look Right

Check that:

  • The selected field is available for the record type you chose.

  • You selected the correct field, especially if a similarly named field exists at both the header and line level.

The value is entered exactly as [[@NONE@]], without selecting a dropdown value.
