Working with Templates: How to Find NetSuite Field IDs Using Teknuro

ExtendInsights Data Management | Display NetSuite Field IDs when building templates

When creating an ExtendInsights Data Management template, identifying the correct NetSuite fields is important. Each field has a display name and an internal Field ID that NetSuite uses to map data.

You can check Field IDs individually in NetSuite or use Teknuro Power Tools to display them directly on a NetSuite record.

Before You Begin

You need:

  • Google Chrome.

  • Access to the applicable NetSuite record.

  • Permission from your organization to install browser extensions.

  • The same NetSuite role you use with ExtendInsights.

Teknuro Power Tools is an optional third-party browser extension. CloudExtend does not develop or maintain this extension. Review your organization’s browser extension and security policies before installing it.

Install Teknuro Power Tools

  1. Go to Teknuro Power Tools for NetSuite & Celigo in the Chrome Web Store.

  2. Click Add to Chrome.

  3. Review the permissions requested by the extension.

  4. Click Add extension.

  5. Pin Teknuro to the Chrome toolbar for easier access.

If your organization manages Chrome extensions, contact your IT or security administrator for assistance.

Display NetSuite Field IDs

  1. Sign in to NetSuite using the same role you use with ExtendInsights.

  2. Open an existing record for the record type you want to use in your template.

For example, open an existing Sales Order, Journal Entry, Vendor Bill, Customer, or Item record.

  3. Open Teknuro Power Tools from the Chrome toolbar.

  4. Go to Tools > Records.

  5. Enable Field ID Badges.

Teknuro displays the internal Field IDs next to the fields available on the NetSuite record.

You can also use the following keyboard shortcut to turn Field ID badges on or off:

    • Windows: Alt + Shift + F
      Mac: Option + Shift + F

Once enabled, it add the label under the field name.

  6. Locate the field you want to add to your ExtendInsights template.

  7. Note its display name, Field ID, and location on the record.

  8. Return to Excel and open the ExtendInsights template builder.

  9. Search for and add the corresponding field.

What to Expect in the Template Builder

The field name in the ExtendInsights template builder may differ slightly from the label shown on the NetSuite form.

For example:

  • NetSuite display name: Entry No.

  • NetSuite Field ID: tranid

  • ExtendInsights template name: Tran ID

This is expected behavior. ExtendInsights uses NetSuite Field IDs behind the scenes but may display them in a more readable format.

Custom fields typically appear using their NetSuite display names rather than their complete Field IDs.

Verification

After adding the field:

  1. Load the template into Excel.

  2. Enter or update a test value.

  3. Send the data to NetSuite.

  4. Open the NetSuite record.

  5. Confirm that the value appears in the expected field.

Test new templates in a NetSuite Sandbox account whenever possible before using them in Production.
