Working with Templates: Refreshing Picklist Values (Cell Operations)

ExtendInsights Data Management | Refresh cached NetSuite picklist values

ExtendInsights caches picklist values such as Customers, Items, Accounts, and Locations to make lookups faster in Excel. If a value was recently added or changed in NetSuite and doesn’t appear in the picklist, refresh the picklist cache.

When to refresh picklist values

Refresh the picklist when:

  • A new NetSuite record or list value was added.

  • A value was updated or activated.

  • An expected value is missing from the picklist.

A picklist refresh retrieves the latest options from NetSuite. If you recently changed roles or permissions and still can’t see a value, ask your NetSuite admin to review your access; refreshing the cache does not change your permissions.

How to Refresh Picklist Values

Follow these steps in the ExtendInsights template builder or worksheet:

  1. In your template or worksheet, select a cell that uses the picklist field.

  2. Open the picklist panel.

  3. Click the three-dot menu (⋯) in the picklist search box.

  4. Select Refresh.

  5. Search the list again for the expected value.

ExtendInsights clears the cached picklist values and retrieves the latest options from NetSuite.

ExtendInsights will:

  • Re-query NetSuite

  • Clear the cached values

  • Load the most current picklist values

The refreshed values will be immediately available for selection.

Still Not Seeing the Expected Values?

Different changes require different refreshes:

  • New or updated picklist value: Refresh the picklist using the steps above.

  • New custom field missing from the template: Refresh the template’s field metadata.

  • ExtendInsights field dependency or other metadata configuration: Refresh the record metadata.

  • Custom fields missing because of role access: Ask your NetSuite admin to review the role permissions and field setup.

➡️ See How to Refresh Metadata in ExtendInsights for the refresh steps.

➡️ For custom-field access, see Troubleshooting Missing Custom Fields.
