Overview
ExtendInsights Financial Reporting includes a Quick Start section in the task pane that lets you generate prebuilt reports without creating XAVI formulas from scratch. Select a report type, set the available parameters, and XAVI generates an example report directly in Excel.
Prebuilt reports are designed to showcase what is possible with XAVI formulas and give you a starting point for building your own financial reports. They are not intended to serve as permanent templates for day-to-day reporting.
Because we continue to refine and expand these examples, the formulas and layouts used in prebuilt reports may change in future releases.
For reports you use regularly, use the prebuilt reports as a guide and build your own version tailored to your subsidiaries, departments, fiscal calendar, and reporting requirements. This gives you greater control over the report and helps keep it stable as the prebuilt examples evolve.
Fiscal Period Compatibility
The pre-built reports are meant to show samples of what can be built with XAVI formulas. They are not meant for your day-to-day reporting. For companies that do not have periods that align with months, ie periods do not cross months, the reports should run. If your company has 4-4-5, 4-5-4 calendars or has an adjustment period, the pre-built reports may not run correctly.
CFO Flash Report
The CFO Flash Report is a high-level Profit and Loss summary. It uses XAVI.TYPEBALANCE to calculate totals by account type, such as Income, Cost of Goods Sold, and Expense. Because it groups accounts by type, it does not rely on a specific account numbering scheme.
Generate the CFO Flash Report
Open the Financial Reporting task pane and select Quick Start.
Go to Profit & Loss Report.
Choose a fiscal year.
Select CFO Flash Report.
Select Generate.

For example, the Total Revenue formula may look like this:
=XAVI.TYPEBALANCE("Income",C$5,C$5,$Q$3,$R$3,$S$3,$T$3,$U$3)
In this example, C5 contains the period. Cells Q3 through U3 contain the Subsidiary, Department, Location, Class, and Accounting Book filters.
Referencing filter cells lets you change a filter value in one place and have the formulas that use it recalculate.
What's included
Revenue
Cost of Goods Sold
Gross Profit
Operating Expenses
Net Income
The CFO Flash Report uses XAVI.TYPEBALANCE with account types (such as "Income", "COGS", "Expense") to aggregate balances by financial category. This means it works independently of your specific account numbering scheme.

Customizing Pre-Built Reports
Pre-built reports are generated as standard Excel worksheets filled with XAVI formulas. Once generated, you can:
Add or remove rows and columns
Apply your own formatting
Insert additional formulas to calculate custom metrics (margins, variances, etc.)
Adjust filters to slice by department, location, or class
The underlying formulas continue to pull live data regardless of any formatting or structural changes you make.
