Users with basic knowledge of Excel can build interactive dashboards. Historically once a user had built an amazing dashboard the only way to keep it up to date was by manually exporting data from their source (such as NetSuite) and then copying and pasting it into Excel and refreshing all the data.

With CloudExtend users can build a dashboard once and with a single click they can refresh their entire data set at once (or even put the entire dashboard on a schedule).

Creating your first dashboard with NetSuite and CloudExtend

In this example we're going to build a sales dashboard with interactive buttons that will allow us to analyze sales data by year, sales rep, customer, and item class.

Build your NetSuite saved search

Create a saved search based off of Sales Orders. If you're using our pre-built dashboard template workbook then your saved search meet the following requirements.

  1. You can give your search any name. We recommend CEAN | Sales Orders
Note that CEAN is short for CloudExtend Excel Analytics. The workbook that holds the results will automatically add a worksheet with the same name as the search

  2. Give the search ID a name of _cean_sales_orders (note after you save your search NetSuite will prepend it with customsearch. This name is critical if you are using the CloudExtend pre-built template.

  3. Add your own criteria

Results columns

If you're using the CloudExtend pre-built template your results and your custom column names must all match those below. If you don't have NetSuite OneWorld you will likely not have the Subsidiary field available. You can leave this field empty in that case.

Bring your saved search to Excel

After you've saved your search (you used the proper naming convention, right), it's time to open Excel and bring that saved search in with CloudExtend. If you're using our pre-built dashboard this will be your final step.

  1. Open CloudExtend

  2. Add the saved search you created (CEAN | Sales Orders)

  3. Once the search is loaded it will run for you (after you click 'Create')
We'd recommend skipping adding it to a schedule until you've got your dashboard nailed down.

  4. Click on the data tab and then 'Refresh All' to update the pre-built pivot table and dashboard with your own data.
