ExtendInsights Data Management | This article will show you how to create Bill of Materials and Bill of Material Revisions

A Bill of Materials (BOM) lists the quantities of raw materials, assemblies, sub-components, and parts needed to manufacture a product. A BOM can be used to communicate between manufacturing partners, multiple facilities within the organization, or with a single manufacturing plant.

In this video, we are going to show you how to Create the NetSuite Bill of Materials and BOM revisions with ExtendInsights for Data Management NetSuite.


Template Layout

πŸ’‘ Tip: It is best to check out the forms and fields and identify the header, column, and required fields in NetSuite that you may need in building the template.

If you are using NetSuite Classic Interface, you can go to:

Lists > Supply Chain > Bills of Materials

  • Name

  • Memo

  • Use Component Yield

  • Available for All Assemblies

  • Restrict to Assemblies List

  • Available For All Locations

  • Restrict To Locations List


Creating Bill of Materials (BOM)

Step 1: Add value for the Name field.

Step 2: Add a value to the Memo field and other fields that need to be filled out on your end.

Step 3: Add TRUE to Use Component Yield, Available For All Assemblies, Available For All Locations fields, and other fields that need to be filled out on your end.

Step 4: Hit Upload to NetSuite then Upload Records and it will generate a new Bill of Material. It will generate an internal ID for the record after it is successfully created in NetSuite.

Lists > Supply Chain > Bills of Materials then click New at the sub-level

  • Bill of Materials

  • Name

  • Memo

  • Effective Start Date

  • Effective End Date

  • Component List: Internal ID

  • Component List: Item

  • Component List: Bom Quantity

  • Component List: Units

  • Component List: Item Source


Creating Bill of Materials Revision

Step 1: Insert the BOM you had just created in the Bill of Materials field.

πŸ’‘ Pro Tip

You can use the internal ID of BOM and add double brackets around the ID if you know the internal ID ie: [[123]]

Step 2: Add the values for the to the fields. You can reference from another workbook, use formulas, or just manually enter values into the ExtendInsights table.

Step 3: Hit Upload to NetSuite and Upload Records to NetSuite and it will generate a new Bill of Materials Revisions. It will generate internal IDs for the records after it was successfully created in NetSuite.
