Admin: Redeploy ExtendInsights Excel Add-ins from the Microsoft 365 Admin Center

ExtendInsights Apps | Update add-ins for your organization

This article is for IT administrators. The steps below require a Microsoft 365 admin role such as Global Admin or Exchange Admin. If you don't have this access, forward these instructions to whoever manages your Microsoft 365 tenant.

Note: Redeploying from the Microsoft 365 admin center is the recommended path for org-wide add-in issues, especially when users can't reinstall individually from Marketplace.


When to Use This

Use centralized deployment if:

  • Multiple users cannot install the ExtendInsights add-in.

  • Users receive errors when installing from Microsoft AppSource.

  • An Office update has prevented the add-in from loading.

  • You want to deploy the add-in to users without requiring individual installation.


Option A: If an Update option is available

If an Update option is available:

  1. Sign in to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center (admin.microsoft.com).

  2. Go to SettingsIntegrated apps.

  3. Select the ExtendInsights Data Connector for Excel add-in.

  4. Select Update.

  5. Allow time for the update to propagate to assigned users.

Option B: If Update is not shown, redeploy from Microsoft AppSource or Marketplace

  1. Go to Settings → Integrated apps → Add-ins → Deploy Add-in → Microsoft Marketplace.

  2. Select Get apps.

  3. Search for "ExtendInsights Data Connector for Excel" and select the add-in.

  4. Choose which users or groups should receive the add-in: the entire organization, specific groups, or named users.

  5. Accept the requested permissions → Finish.


Propagation time

  • New deployments can take up to 24 hours to appear for all users.

  • Updates and changes (including turning an add-in on or off) can take up to 72 hours.

If users are still within these timeframes, this is expected behavior, and no further action is required.


Verification

Deployment is complete when:

  • The ExtendInsights add-in appears in Excel for assigned users.

  • Users can open the add-in without installing it manually.
