Yes—you can rearrange fields in an ExtendInsights template to match your preferred layout or incoming data structure. Reordering fields is supported when building a new template or editing an existing one.
❌ Fields You Must NOT Rename or Reorder
To avoid breaking template behavior, do not rename, move, or reorder the following:
Column A – Reserved Status Column
Used by ExtendInsights to display success, warning, and error messages
Column B – Internal ID Column
Used to track NetSuite record identifiers
Row 1 (hidden mapping row)
Contains the field mapping between Excel and NetSuite
⚠️ Important:
Renaming, reordering, or editing any of the above can cause uploads or updates to fail.
How to Rearrange Fields (Drag and Drop)
When you’re in the Template Builder:
Locate the field you want to move.
Click and hold the field name.
Drag and drop the field to its new position.
The new order is applied immediately and will be reflected when the template is loaded into Excel.
Reordering Sublist Fields
ExtendInsights also allows you to reorder sublist (line-level) fields outside of the sublist group while creating or editing a template.
What this means
You are not restricted to keeping sublist fields grouped together.
You can arrange fields in the order that best matches your source data or preferred workflow.
This flexibility is especially helpful when:
Copying data from another system
Working with flat files
Preparing large uploads where column order matters
⚠️ Important Note on Data Entry
When reordering sublist fields outside of the sublist:
Header-level fields must be repeated for each line item.
Sublist fields should contain line-specific values for each row.
ExtendInsights determines how records and lines are created based on the row structure, not the column order.
💡 Tip:
If multiple rows share the same header values, ExtendInsights treats them as multiple lines on the same record.
