Use XAVI_NULL to retrieve data when a supported dimension has no value assigned in NetSuite. For example, use it to find account balances for transactions with no department, class, or location.
You can use XAVI_NULL in a pre-built report or in a report you create yourself.
Use a Cell Reference
This example uses the Income Statement in the Pre-Built Reports article.
Generate an Income Statement.
Select a cell containing a XAVI formula.
In the formula, enter
"XAVI_NULL" as the value for the Department parameter.
=XAVI.BALANCE(4004,"2026-Jan","2026-Jan","HH Inc. (Consolidated)","XAVI_NULL",,,1)The formula returns amounts for records with no department assigned.
You can use the same approach with other supported dimension parameters when you want to retrieve records that have no value for that dimension.
Support for filtering on blank Department, Class, or Location using XAVI_NULL — applicable only within the BALANCE formula (not other formula types)
Known Limitations
XAVI_NULL in a cell reference:
XAVI_NULLCurrently works only when it's entered directly in the formula in quotes. If a formula refers to a cell that containsXAVI_NULL, it returns an error.
