When building templates in ExtendInsights for Data Management, you may need to reference NetSuite Field IDs to select the correct fields in the template builder.
This article shows how to enable the setting in NetSuite that displays internal field IDs, making it easier to correlate NetSuite fields with ExtendInsights templates.
Why Enable NetSuite Field IDs?
ExtendInsights uses NetSuite Field IDs behind the scenes to map data between Excel and NetSuite.
Enabling Field IDs helps you:
Identify the correct field to use in the template builder
Avoid selecting the wrong field with a similar display name
Build accurate and reliable templates
How to Enable “Show Internal IDs” in NetSuite
Follow the steps below in the NetSuite UI.
In NetSuite, hover over Home then select Set Preferences.
Open the General tab.
Scroll to the Defaults section, check the box for Show Internal IDs.
Click Save (if prompted).
Sign out, then re-login to NetSuite.
Once enabled, NetSuite will display internal IDs throughout the UI, including in field help panels.
How This Helps in ExtendInsights
After enabling internal IDs:
Click any field label in NetSuite (look for the ? icon).
Scroll to the bottom of the help panel to see the Field ID.
Use that Field ID (or its formatted version) to search for the field in the ExtendInsights template builder.
Some field IDs may appear slightly formatted in the template builder (for example, tranid → Tran ID).
