How to Manage Data using ExtendInsights Salesforce
β The first step is to utlize a template. Templates are used by ExtendInsights to map data between Excel and Salesforce.
Once your data is loaded the ExtendInsights Actions will be available for use.
Step 1: Build a template
A well-structured template layout is essential for managing records efficiently. Identify mandatory and key fields when creating or updating records to minimize errors during the upload process.
Additionally, determine your data source and the object or record type you need to manage for accurate data handling.
For this example, I want to utlize Opportunity and the fields that I needed to include in the template are:
Name
Close Date
Stage
Amount
Lead Source
Opportunity Type
1. Launch Extendinsights. From the list of data sources, select Salesforce.
| 2. Click Create a Template to build your first template.

3. Choose desired connection in the Active Connection box then select the object for your data.
| 4. Choose the fields to set for mapping. You can enter a partial name for any field to find matches. Select each field and when done, click Apply.

5. Click Proceed to load the template.
Ensure your current worksheet is empty, as loading the template will clear existing data
| 6. If desired, save the template to be reused in other workbooks, give the template a name, and then choose Save As Template.

Step 2: Get familarize with your Workspace
Understand your available options once your template is loaded. Explore the table configuration settings and the buttons you can use for efficient data management.

Step 3: Enter Data for Upload
Manually input data or if you have data from other systems, prepare it in advance and use Excelβs copy/paste feature for a seamless upload. Start smallβwork with smaller data sets first before handling larger ones as you become more familiar with the app.
Scenario: A company is switching from a legacy CRM to Salesforce and needs to migrate all open opportunities to ensure seamless sales pipeline tracking. The Salesforce admin is responsible for exporting, cleaning, and importing the opportunity data while maintaining data integrity.
I want to upload these records to Salesforce, and I'll use the Upload Action to do it!
ExtendInsights includes an error notification feature! A green indicator confirms successful processing, while any errors will be displayed in Column A for quick troubleshooting.
Step 4: Validate Upload
Verify your upload to ensure accuracy! Check for missing details and update your template if needed. With a well-structured template, you can quickly create and update records in just a few clicks.

Delete Rows
Sends a delete request to remove an entire record.
The record ID must be mapped for deletion to proceed.
Download
Executes a query based on rules (Object & Filter) or SOQL set by the user.
Retrieves and filters records within the application.
Data downloads can be scheduled for automatic updates.
