ExtendInsights Salesforce | Guide to help streamline your setup

Welcome to ExtendInsights for Salesforce. We're glad to have you onboard. We've created this short guide to help streamline your setup.

Who is required for the initial setup?

Doing the steps below we need three individuals from your organization. For some companies, this may be the same person. The users do not need to be present at the same time but they will each be required to perform an action.

  1. The admin assigned to login to subscriptions.cloudextend.io

  2. A user with Salesforce admin rights


ExtendInsights Installation Steps

ExtendInsights can be installed by end users or by Microsoft 365 admins.

Manage Licenses in the CloudExtend Portal

Subscription Admins can log into https://subscriptions.cloudextend.io with their Microsoft or Google account to start managing end-user licenses and assign other administrators.

One-Time Package Install for Salesforce Admin

Salesforce admin need to perform a one-time installation and configure which users can access the app.

Step 1: Install the ExtendInsights Package

The ExtendInsights package requires a one-time installation per Salesforce org.

⚠️ READ ME:

  • The installation option here controls visibility of the package components, NOT the Connected App access. You'll configure Connected App access in the next section.

  • This installation only needs to be performed once per org and does not require individual setup for each user.

Please use the appropriate link below based on your environment:

Production Environment

  1. Click on the installation link below: Install ExtendInsights for Production

  2. Log in with your Salesforce admin credentials.

  3. Review the package contents and click Continue.

  4. Choose your installation option:

    1. Install for Admins Only - Recommended for initial setup.

    2. Install for All Users

    3. Install for Specific Profiles

      This restriction is applicable exclusively to custom records or fields introduced within the package; however, our package does not contain any such customizations.

  5. Click Install and wait for the installation to complete.​

Sandbox Environment

  1. Use the installation link below: Install ExtendInsights for Sandbox.

  2. Log in with your Salesforce admin credentials.

  3. Review the package contents and click Continue.

  4. Choose your installation option:

    1. Install for Admins Only - Recommended for initial setup.

    2. Install for All Users

    3. Install for Specific Profiles

      This restriction is applicable exclusively to custom records or fields introduced within the package; however, our package does not contain any such customizations.

  5. Click Install and wait for the installation to complete.​

Step 2: Managing User Access to the Connected App

By default, the ExtendInsights Connected App is accessible to all users in your org. To restrict access to specific users or profiles, please follow these steps:

Modify Connected App Policies

  1. Navigate to Setup β†’ Search for App Manager.

  2. Locate ExtendInsights and click Manage.

  3. Click Edit Policies.

  4. Change Permitted Users from "All users may self-authorize" to "Admin approved users are pre-authorized".

  5. Save your changes.

Grant Access to Specific Profiles

  1. Click Manage Profiles.

  2. Select the profiles that should have access to ExtendInsights.

  3. Save your selections

This configuration allows you to control which users can access ExtendInsights in your Salesforce org.

Step 3: Sandbox Refresh Requirements (Optional)

Admin will need to reinstall the package after a sandbox refresh.

When you refresh your sandbox, all installed packages (including ExtendInsights) are removed.


To restore functionality:

  1. Reinstall the package using the sandbox installation link provided above.

  2. Reconfigure any user access settings as needed.

This ensures ExtendInsights continues to function properly in your refreshed sandbox environment.


Set your users up for success by reviewing and sharing articles

After you've installed ExtendInsights for Salesforce you'll want to make sure your users have the tools for success.
