Attaching emails to NetSuite while composing or replying to a message is fast and easy.
Watch the short video below or follow the step-by-step instructions.
How to Attach a Composed Email to NetSuite
Step 1: Enter all the necessary details into your Outlook message.
Step 2: Click Suggest Related Records (ExtendSync will automatically display likely matches).
You can also Search for Records manually if you prefer.

Step 3: Choose the record or records you want to attach the email to.
Step 4: Click Associate Email.
Step 5: Finally, send your email.
🚨 Important:
Always send your email after you’ve attached it to NetSuite records.
Avoid editing the message content after attaching — this could disrupt the association.
Limitations
🔵 File Attachments in Compose Mode
Currently, ExtendSync does not support file attachments while composing an email.
If you want to include attachments:
Send the email first, then open it from your Sent Items folder to attach it to NetSuite using ExtendSync.
This ensures that the attachments are synced properly via the Microsoft API.
💡 Why this happens:
Microsoft’s API only has access to files after they’re stored on your Exchange Server.
When composing, attachments are stored locally — not yet available for the API.
Once you send the email, they’re uploaded and ready to sync.
✅ Recommended workflow:
Send your email.
Open it in Sent Items.
Use ExtendSync to attach the email (and files) to NetSuite.
🔵 Email Autopilot is not available in compose mode
You can’t enable Autopilot during email composition.
To activate Autopilot:
Go to your Sent Items folder after sending the email.
Turn on Autopilot from there.
💡 Tip:
If you’ve already set up Email Address-Based Autopilot (To/From/CC) for the recipient, you don’t need to take any action — the email will automatically sync to the associated record (and future replies will sync, too).
🔵 No categories will be generated for emails saved in compose mode
Categories are not generated for emails saved while in compose mode.
This is due to a Microsoft API limitation — categories require server-side access once the message is sent.
