OLNS | Learn how to keep CloudExtend app open all the time

Updated over a week ago

CloudExtend users that use the application regularly may elect to turn on task pane pinning to keep the application open as they move from email to email. Users that don't regularly use the application may want to keep the application unpinned to save screen real estate.

Who can use task pane pinning πŸ“Œ ?

All users from free to Enterprise can use task pane pinning as long as their system meets the minimum system requirements as set by Microsoft below.

Pinnable task panes are currently available to Office 365 subscribers on Outlook 2016 or later for Windows (build 7900.xxxx or later), Outlook 2016 or later for Mac (version 16.13.503 or later), and Outlook Online. (If you meet these requirements but are still not seeing the Pin, click here for troubleshooting steps).

How to enable task pane pinning?

Users will see a pin icon next to the close(X) Β icon at the top right of the App as shown below. By default the application is in an unpinned state, meaning if you move to a different email, the application will close automatically.Β

To keep the application open as you navigate from mail to mail, click the Pin icon. Once pinned the application will stay open all the time until you close it. In the event you do close it the application will need to be pinned again.

Other notables

If you move to a different email while a current NetSuite operation (like search or attach) is in progress app will show a processing screen as below

This is required to prevent the app from making parallel requests to NetSuite while a current request is in progress and to avoid any concurrency issues.Β

Troubleshooting

If you do not see the pin and your App version meets the requirements for Microsoft to enable pinning try to remove and reinstall CloudExtend.

Step 1: On the Outlook ribbon, click on Get Add-ins.

Step 2: You will be redirected to a pop-up page as shown below. Click on My add-ins on the left-hand side.

Step 3: You should now see the add-ins that you’ve installed. Look for CloudExtend Outlook for NetSuite and click on the 3 dots next to Added then choose Remove.

Step 4: You have now successfully uninstalled the add-in. Now, you need to reinstall it. Use the search bar on the upper right-hand side of the pop-up window to search for CloudExtend. After you find it, click Add.

Step 5: Go back to Outlook, open CloudExtend and the pin should be there. If you still do not see the pin, please reach out to cloudextend-support@celigo.com for further assistance.
