FAQ: How to Assign SOAP Web Services Permission to a NetSuite Role

ExtendInsights Data Management | SOAP Web Services must be enabled for ExtendInsights app to function properly

Updated this week

ExtendInsights Data Management connects to NetSuite using SuiteTalk (SOAP Web Services). If the NetSuite role you use to log in does not have SOAP Web Services enabled, ExtendInsights will be unable to authenticate or retrieve/update data.

Who needs to do this?

A NetSuite Administrator (or anyone with permission to edit roles) must enable SOAP Web Services on the role your users will use with ExtendInsights.

Enable SOAP Web Services for a Role

  1. In NetSuite, go to Setup > Users/Roles > Manage Roles.

  2. Find the role you want to update, then click Edit (or Customize if it is a standard role you do not want to modify directly).

  3. Open Permissions > Setup.

  4. Add one of the following permissions (the label can vary by NetSuite version/account):

    • SOAP Web Services, or

    • Web Services (older naming in some accounts)

  5. Set the Level to Full.

  6. Click Add, then Save.
