Admin: Request for Justification Form

ExtendInsights Analytics | How to request approval for ExtendInsights Admin portal access from your Microsoft Admin

Updated today

During the installation and setup of ExtendInsights Analytics, at least one user must access the ExtendInsights Admin Portal to manage licenses and users.

In some Microsoft 365 environments, admins restrict third-party app authorization.

When this is enabled, users may be prompted to submit an admin consent or justification request when attempting to log in.

This article explains why this happens and how to get approved quickly.

What You’ll See

When attempting to log in to the ExtendInsights Admin Portal, you may see a Microsoft message similar to:

  • “Need admin approval”

  • “Your organization requires admin approval to access this app”

  • A prompt requesting a business justification for access

This is expected behavior in environments where Microsoft Azure AD blocks user-consented applications.

Why This Happens

This behavior is controlled entirely by Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) policies.

  • Your Microsoft Admin has disabled self-service app authorization

  • Any third-party application (including ExtendInsights) requires admin consent

  • This is a Microsoft security control, not an ExtendInsights limitation

How to Resolve the Issue

Step 1: Submit a Justification Request (ExtendInsights Admin)

When prompted by Microsoft:

  1. Enter a clear justification explaining why access is required

  2. Submit the request for admin approval

Recommended justification text:

Access is required to log in to the ExtendInsights Admin Portal (subscriptions.cloudextend.io) in order to manage ExtendInsights Analytics licenses and users. Permissions apply only to the requesting user and do not grant organization-wide access.

Step 2: Share Microsoft’s Admin Review Guide (ExtendInsights Admin)

After submitting the request, share the following Microsoft documentation with your Microsoft Admin:

This guide explains how Microsoft Admins can review, approve, or deny requests.

Step 3: Approve the Request (Microsoft Admin)

Microsoft Admin Steps:

  1. Open the Microsoft Admin consent requests page

  2. Review the submitted justification

  3. Approve the request for the user

Once approved, the user can immediately log in to the ExtendInsights Admin Portal.

Security & Permissions (Important)

To address common security concerns:

  • ExtendInsights requests the minimum permissions required

  • Permissions apply only to the user logging in

  • No organization-wide access is granted

  • Access is used solely to manage licenses and users in the Admin Portal

This is expected and standard behavior for SaaS admin portals using Microsoft identity.

Alternatives (If Approval Is Delayed)

  • Any Microsoft email address can be used to access the Admin Portal

    • This may include a different corporate account or a personal Microsoft account

  • The email used for admin access does not need to match the NetSuite login email
