ExtendInsights for Data Management features a modern, intuitive interface designed to help you focus on retrieving, creating, and managing NetSuite records directly from Excel.
This guide walks through the key areas of the interface so you know exactly where to go and what each section does.
ExtendInsights Workspace
Once a template is loaded into Excel, the worksheet becomes your workspace for NetSuite data.
From this workspace, you can:
Retrieve existing NetSuite records
Update records
Create new records
Delete records (where permitted by your NetSuite role)
All actions respect NetSuite permissions and validation rules.
Template Structure
Understanding the template layout helps prevent errors.
Row 1 β Mapping Syntax
Holds the internal mapping between Excel and NetSuite fields
Hidden by default
Should not be edited unless you are a power user
Editing this row can break the template.
Row 2 β Table Headers
Displays the column headers visible to users
Can be safely edited to make field names more user-friendly
Header name changes do not affect how data maps to NetSuite
Column A β Reserved Messages
Color-coded:
π΄ Red = Error
π‘ Yellow = Warning
π’ Green = Success
Picklist Selection Panel
Used for list-type NetSuite fields (Accounts, Items, Entities, etc.)
Redesigned to be expandable and easier to use
Allows you to select valid NetSuite values without memorizing IDs

Menu
The Menu is the control center for ExtendInsights.
From the Menu, you can:
View upload status and job history
Switch NetSuite roles and environments (Production, Sandbox, Test Drive)
Access and manage templates
Configure global settings such as Background Upload
Change the app theme (Light, Dark, or System default)

Template Toggle Button
The Template Toggle controls how you start working.
When to Keep It OFF
If you are creating a template for the first time
Default setting
When to Turn It ON
If you already have saved templates and want to reuse one
Once enabled, select the template you want to use and begin working immediately.
Search and Download
Use Search and Download to retrieve existing NetSuite records.
You can:
Create a new template or reuse an existing one
Pull a subset of records using:
