Troubleshooting: Persist Search Permission Violation

ExtendInsights Analytics | Resolve the NetSuite Persist Search permission error

ExtendInsights Analytics requires the Persist Search permission to retrieve saved search data efficiently. You may see a permission violation if the NetSuite role connected to ExtendInsights does not have this permission.

Error / Symptoms

ExtendInsights displays the following error when you access or refresh a NetSuite saved search:

Permission Violation: You need the 'Lists -> Persist Search' permission to access this page

Why This Happens

The NetSuite role connected to ExtendInsights does not have the following permission:

Permission category

Permission

Access level

Lists

Persist Search

Create

This is a NetSuite role-permission requirement and does not indicate an ExtendInsights error.

How to Resolve the Issue

End Users

  1. Confirm which NetSuite account and role you use with ExtendInsights.

  2. Send the role name to your NetSuite Admin.

  3. Ask the administrator to add the Lists > Persist Search permission with the Create access level.

  4. After the administrator updates the role, sign out of ExtendInsights and reconnect to NetSuite.

  5. Run the saved search again.

If you use more than one NetSuite role with ExtendInsights, each applicable role must have the required permission.

NetSuite Admins

  1. In NetSuite, go to Setup > Users/Roles > Manage Roles.

  2. Locate the role the user connects to ExtendInsights with.

  3. Click Edit.

  4. Go to Permissions > Lists.

  5. Add the following permission:

    • Permission: Persist Search

    • Level: Create

  6. Save the role.

Ask the user to sign out of ExtendInsights and reconnect so the updated role permissions take effect.

Verification

The permission was added successfully when:

  • The user can reconnect to NetSuite through ExtendInsights.

  • The saved search opens or refreshes successfully.

  • The Persist Search permission violation no longer appears.

Best Practices

  • Add the permission to the exact role used by the ExtendInsights connection.

  • Apply the permission to every role users may select when connecting.

  • Use the Create access level for the Persist Search permission.

  • Reconnect ExtendInsights after changing NetSuite role permissions.
