Templates preserve your selected fields, filters, and other available configuration settings. Saving a template allows you to reuse the same configuration without rebuilding it each time you need the data.
The refreshed version 10.8 layout applies to HubSpot, Salesforce, Chargebee, and Stripe.
Google Analytics users: Google Analytics was not included in the version 10.8 connector layout update. Its panel and button locations may look different from the screenshots in this article. You can still save and reuse templates through the existing Google Analytics interface.
NetSuite users: The NetSuite workspace has separate features and workflows. Visit the ExtendInsights for NetSuite Help Center for Analytics, Data Management, SuiteQL, Financial Reporting, and troubleshooting resources.
Why Save a Template?
An unsaved template remains available only in the worksheet where it was created.
For example, if you create an unsaved template on Worksheet 1 in Workbook A, you can refresh it only from that worksheet. Saving the template adds it to the Template Repository, allowing you to load it in another workbook.
Save templates that you plan to use regularly or across multiple reports.
Save a Template
Before continuing, select the data source, connection, object or resource, fields, and filters you want to include in the template.
Select Insert Template.
ExtendInsights inserts the template into the active worksheet. The Configure section collapses, and the Actions section expands automatically.
Go to Save Template at the bottom of the panel.
Enter a descriptive Template Name.
Optional: Enter a Description that explains the template's purpose or intended use.
Select Save.
The template is saved to the Template Repository and can be loaded in another workbook.
Manage Saved Templates
You can load, update, or delete templates from the Template Repository.
đSee Manage Templates in ExtendInsights for detailed instructions.
How Templates Can Be Used
Templates help standardize how data is retrieved and managed. Instead of rebuilding the same configuration, you can save it once and reuse it when needed.
Depending on the connected data source, object, and available permissions, templates can support the following operations:
Download: Retrieve data for reports, dashboards, PivotTables, and analysis.
Create: Add records using a predefined set of fields.
Update: Modify existing records using a consistent template structure.
Delete: Remove supported records through a controlled, repeatable process.
Note: Available operations depend on the connected data source and object. Some data sources support downloads only, while others also support creating, updating, or deleting records.
đ See Supported Data Sources and Capabilities for a complete list of supported operations and limitations.
Verification
Confirm that the template was saved successfully:
The template appears in the Template Repository.
You can load it from another workbook.
It retains the fields, filters, and configuration you selected.
Best Practices
Save templates you use frequently or need in more than one workbook.
Use descriptive names that identify the data source, object, and purpose.
Add a description to explain the template's intended use.
Review the selected connection before performing an operation.
Use separate templates for different business processes or data sources.
Review assigned schedules before making significant changes to a saved template.
