Save your ExtendInsights Templates to be used anywhere

ExtendInsights | Save templates to reuse them across workbooks

Templates allow you to save your field selections, filters, and configuration so you don't have to rebuild them each time you need the same data.

Once saved, a template can be used in any workbook, making it easy to standardize reports and automate recurring downloads.

Why save a template?

If you don't save a template, it remains available only in the worksheet where it was created. For example, if you create a template on Worksheet 1 in Workbook A, it can only be refreshed from that worksheet.

We recommend saving templates that you plan to use regularly or share across multiple reports.

Save a Template

After selecting your data source, fields, and filters:

  1. After clicking Proceed, the template will be loaded to the worksheet.

  2. Save As Template will be enabled. Click to start saving.

  3. Fill in the following:

    • Enter a Template Name.

    • (Optional) Enter a Description to help identify the template later.

  4. Click Save.

Your template is saved to the Template Repository and can be used in any workbook.

Why Use Templates?

Templates help you standardize how data is retrieved and managed across your organization. Instead of rebuilding the same configuration each time, you can save it once and reuse it whenever you need it.

Depending on your connected data source, templates can be used to:

  • Download data for reporting, dashboards, PivotTables, and analysis.

  • Create new records using a predefined set of fields.

  • Update existing records using a consistent template structure.

  • Delete records (where supported) using a controlled and repeatable process.

Using templates helps you:

  • Save time by eliminating repetitive setup.

  • Ensure consistent field selections and filters across reports.

  • Reduce errors by using the same configuration every time.

  • Reuse templates across multiple workbooks and team members.

  • Support scheduled downloads for reports that require regular updates.

Note:

Available operations depend on the connected data source and object. Some data sources support Download only, while others also support Create, Update, and Delete operations.

Verification

Your template has been saved successfully when:

  • It appears in the Template Repository.

  • It can be loaded from another workbook.

  • It retains the fields and filters you configured.

Best Practices

  • Save templates that you use frequently.

  • Use descriptive names so templates are easy to identify.

  • Add a description to document the template's purpose.

  • Use saved templates to ensure consistent reporting across multiple workbooks.
