Overview
Watch this video or follow the steps below to learn how to install ExtendSync Outlook and connect to NetSuite
✅ Before You Begin
Have the following ready — you'll need them when signing in after installation:
Microsoft 365 credentials
NetSuite username, password, and account ID
Confirm your NetSuite role has permission to use ExtendSync
Quick Overview
Why Installation Method Matters
ExtendSync for Outlook is installed as a Microsoft Office Add-in. The method you use to install it directly affects how future updates are delivered — this is the most important factor in choosing an approach.
If in doubt, check with your admin first to see which option you should select.
Method | Auto-Updates? | When to Use |
⭐ Microsoft AppSource (End User) | ✅ Yes — automatic | RECOMMENDED — individual users, self-service install |
⭐ Centralized Deployment (Admin) | ✅ Yes — automatic | RECOMMENDED — org-wide rollout, consistent experience |
⚠️ Sideload | ❌ No — manual only | Last resort — org-wide, AppSource blocked |
Install ExtendSync
OPTION 1 (End User): Install from Microsoft AppSource
Watch this video or follow the steps below to learn how to install ExtendSync Outlook
💡 Note:
Microsoft makes frequent changes to this process based on your OS and Outlook version.
The easiest way for individual users to install ExtendSync is directly from the Microsoft AppSource store unless your admin prefers centralized deployment. Updates are delivered automatically — you will always have the latest version without any manual reinstallation.
📘 Check with your Microsoft 365 Admin first — they may have already deployed ExtendSync centrally, in which case it will already appear in your Outlook without any installation needed. |
Windows Users
The way you install depends on the version of Outlook you have.
Classic Outlook Version
Open classic Outlook.
From the ribbon, select Home > All Apps. If the Simplified Ribbon is configured in your Outlook client, select the ellipsis button (...) from the ribbon, and then choose All Apps.
Search for “CloudExtend” or “ExtendSync.”
Click Add.
New Outlook / Outlook on the web Version
In the new Outlook, go to the ribbon or navigation bar and select More apps > Add apps.
Tip: You can also access the Store from the Apps button to install an add-in directly from a message or appointment. For guidance on how to locate the Apps button to access add-ins while reading or composing a mail item, see Use an add-in in Outlook.
In the Apps page, search for "CloudExtend" or "ExtendSync".
When you're ready to install the add-in, select Add.
Tip: If you don’t see Apps, there is an alternate option.
Mac Users (Desktop Outlook)
Select See more items (…) in the toolbar and select Get Add-ins.
Search for "CloudExtend" or "ExtendSync" in the Search box and press the Return or Enter key.
Select Add
Alternative (works on all OS): Microsoft AppSource
Step 1: Install and download directly from Microsoft AppSource via this link here.
Step 2: After installation, open Outlook on the desktop (or continue on the web) open any email, and click the ExtendSync icon in the ribbon or under Get Add-Ins.
✅ ExtendSync is now installed and will receive automatic updates whenever CloudExtend publishes a new version.
Option 2 (Admin): Centralized Deployment via Admin Center
For IT admins, Centralized Deployment is the recommended method for rolling out ExtendSync across an organization. The add-in is deployed once from the Microsoft 365 Admin Center and appears automatically in Outlook for all assigned users — no action required from users.
Final Step - Sign In to ExtendSync and Connect to NetSuite
For login prerequisites and troubleshooting, see this article.
Basic Credentials
View the login process in action! Start at 0:38.
Step 1: For first-time login, you will be prompted to log in with your Microsoft email address (typically your company email).
Your CloudExtend login identity is tied to Microsoft rather than your NetSuite account. The NetSuite connection is established once you log in and can be switched easily without having to sign out by selecting the menu and Connections.
💡 Note:
Once you log in with your Microsoft account, you won't be asked to log in again unless you clear cache or you are trying to load the app in a different browser. Please make sure you login with same ID in all environments as your license is only tied to one ID, not both.
Step 2: Enter your NetSuite Account ID.
NetSuite Account Number
In order to use the login flow, you will need your NetSuite Account Number. This can be located in the URL while you are logged into NetSuite in a browser. Learn how to find your NetSuite account ID here.
Step 3: Enter your NetSuite credentials. Select the role you want to log in with and hit Allow.
💡 Note: You will also be required to enter your NetSuite username and password or login with SSO. If you received an error here, it generally means your account does not have proper permissions. Ask your Admin to review the prerequisites here in our help center.
Step 4: Done! To learn about ExtendSync Outlook at your own paced here or check out Get Started guide!
Once you're logged in, the color of your ExtendSync panel will indicate the environment you're connected to:
🔵 Blue – for Production and Test Drive environments
🟢 Green – for Sandbox environments
Single Sign-On Troubleshooting Tips
In most cases, NetSuite will recognize your use Single Sign On. If you're having trouble, these tips will help.
👉 For additional troubleshooting tips, refer to this article.
After you have obtained your troubleshooting URL, continue with the Connect to NetSuite process by selecting Menu->Connections->Add Connection and continue the process until you get to the screen below (first-time users may be prompted to enter their account number rather than going through the menu).
On this screen, which appears after you enter your account number, select Troubleshoot SSO URL and enter the URL from your clipboard on the next screen. This will then log you into NetSuite via the UI.
⚠️ ADMINS - Important: if you are an admin, NetSuite does not allow signing in with SSO. For admins, enter https://system.netsuite.com as your SSO troubleshooting URL. If the above URL does not prompt you to log in, then use your NetSuite dashboard URL (such as https://123456.app.netsuite.com where you replace 123456 with your account number).
At this point, you have successfully reset your SSO login and can close the browser and restart the sign-in process from CloudExtend, where your SSO process will be recognized.
❗️If you have more than one NetSuite account be sure to navigate to the desired account before closing the window.
💡 Note: If you received an error here, it generally means your account does not have proper permissions. Ask your Admin to review the prerequisites here in our help center.
Obtaining the URL for your NetSuite login using Microsoft Azure AD as your Identity Provider
Step 1: Go to https://myapplications.microsoft.com/ in your browser.
Step 2: Click the ellipse in the NetSuite tile.
Step 3: Copy the link (you will use this link for Step 4 above).
