ExtendSync for Outlook NetSuite gives users the option to attach files and images when syncing emails to NetSuite.
This article explains how file attachments, inline images, and hosted images are handled in ExtendSync, along with key size limits to keep in mind.
Read below or watch this video for more information.
File Size and Email Limits
When syncing emails and attachments through ExtendSync:
The maximum supported individual file size is 10 MB.
The total email size limit (including attachments and images) should not exceed 25 MB.
π‘ Tip:
If your attachments are larger, consider using ExtendDocs (OneDrive/SharePoint integration) to store them outside the NetSuite File Cabinet.
Hosted images
Hosted images are stored externally β typically on a public server β and referenced in the email via HTML.
Behavior in ExtendSync:
Hosted images always transfer to the email in NetSuite.
Because the image data isnβt embedded, the overall email file size remains small.
Hosted images do not consume NetSuite storage space.
β
Best For:
Logos, signature graphics, and any images hosted on a company web server
β
Inline (or embedded) images
Inline images are embedded directly in the body of the email message.
Behavior in ExtendSync:
Inline images transfer to NetSuite only if you choose to include them during the file attachment process.
When included, these images appear in the Attachments tab of the NetSuite email β not in the email body.
Inline images consume NetSuite File Cabinet storage space.
β
Best For:
Visuals or screenshots that are part of the email content and need to be preserved in NetSuite.
File Attachments
File attachments (e.g., PDFs, spreadsheets, documents) only sync to NetSuite when users choose to include them during the save process.
Behavior in ExtendSync:
Users can include or exclude attachments when saving or associating an email.
Attachments appear under the Attachments section in NetSuite.
They consume NetSuite storage space (unless using ExtendDocs).
β
Best For:
Invoices, proposals, or any files that need to be stored and referenced directly from NetSuite.
