What is a Microsoft ID and why do I need it

Learn why CloudExtend requires your Microsoft ID (email) for subscription management login

Updated this week

CloudExtend and Microsoft Accounts

Certain CloudExtend subscriptions include access to an admin portal (https://subscriptions.cloudextend.io/) where administrators can manage end-user licenses, Autopilot settings, and product configurations.

To keep this experience secure and seamless, CloudExtend requires admins to sign in using their Microsoft ID.

This removes the need for yet another password and ensures authentication remains consistent with your organization’s Microsoft 365 environment.

What Is a Microsoft ID?

A Microsoft ID is an email associated with a Microsoft Account or Microsoft 36 account. It's similar to a Google Account and lets you manage everything all in one place.
Examples of Microsoft IDs:

  • user@yourcompany.com (Microsoft 365 work account)

  • user@outlook.com, user@hotmail.com, etc.

  • Any email configured as a Microsoft Account

Why CloudExtend Uses Your Microsoft ID

Using your Microsoft ID ensures:

✔ Simplified access : No extra portal password. Your Microsoft credentials authenticate you.

✔ Secure identity management: CloudExtend leverages your company’s existing security, including MFA and SSO.

✔ Streamlined admin experience: Admins manage licenses at https://subscriptions.cloudextend.io/ using the same identity used for Microsoft 365.

✔ Fewer login errors: Consistent authentication across CloudExtend.
