Troubleshooting: ExtendInsights Works on My Personal Computer but Not My Work PC

If the ExtendInsights add-in works on your personal computer but not on your work PC, the issue is typically caused by your organization's Microsoft 365 or security policies.

Common Causes

  • Microsoft AppSource add-ins are restricted by your organization.

  • The ExtendInsights add-in has not been deployed to your account.

  • Firewall, proxy, or security software is blocking the add-in.

  • You're signed in with a different Microsoft 365 account than the one assigned the add-in.

  • Excel, Microsoft 365 Apps, or Microsoft Edge WebView2 is out of date.

  • Conditional Access or other security policies are restricting access.


How to Resolve the Issue

End Users

  • Confirm you're signed in to Excel with your work Microsoft 365 account.

  • Restart Excel and check for Microsoft Office updates.

  • If the issue continues, contact your Microsoft 365 Administrator.

Microsoft 365 Administrators

Verify that:

  • The ExtendInsights add-in is deployed to the affected user.

  • The user is assigned to the correct Microsoft 365 group or deployment scope.

  • Microsoft AppSource add-ins are allowed in your tenant.

  • Firewall and proxy settings allow Office add-ins to connect.

  • Microsoft 365 Apps and Microsoft Edge WebView2 are up to date.


Verification

The issue is resolved when the ExtendInsights add-in appears and opens successfully on the user's work PC.
