Error: You are not authorized to perform this

ExtendSync Outlook | Learn how to troubleshoot when prompted "You are not authorized to perform this" error message upon login

Updated over a week ago

Error Message

If you see the following error when trying to log in to ExtendSync:

{ "error": { "code": "", "details": "You are not authorized to perform this." } }

It means your NetSuite role is missing a required permission needed for ExtendSync authentication.

This is resolved by updating your NetSuite role permissions.

How to Fix the Error

Ask your NetSuite Admin to update the permissions for the role you are using to log in.

  1. Go to
Setup → Users/Roles → Manage Roles → Edit (or Customize)

  2. Open the Permissions → Setup subtab.

  3. Add the following permission (if not already present):

    • Log in using Access Tokens and set Level to Full

  4. Click Save.

  5. Ask the user to:

    • Close Outlook completely

    • Reopen Outlook

    • Log in to ExtendSync again

Why This Happens

ExtendSync uses NetSuite's Three-Step Authorization flow, which requires Token-Based Authentication (TBA).

If the role does not have Log in using Access Tokens, NetSuite will block authentication and return this error.
