If a Microsoft Office update prompt appears when opening the ExtendInsights add-in, the add-in may not load until the update is completed or Excel is restarted.
Symptoms
An update dialog appears when opening the ExtendInsights add-in.
The add-in panel does not load.
The update prompt reappears each time you open Excel.
Why This Happens
This behavior is caused by Microsoft Office while an Office add-in update is pending. Until the update is completed or refreshed, Excel may temporarily prevent the add-in from loading.
How to Resolve the Issue
End Users
Select Continue in the update dialog to complete the update.
Restart Excel and open the ExtendInsights add-in again.
Microsoft 365 Administrators
If the update prompt continues to appear for one or more users:
Verify that Office add-ins are allowed in your Microsoft 365 tenant.
Redeploy the ExtendInsights add-in from the Microsoft 365 Admin Center if necessary.
If the issue persists after redeployment, contact CloudExtend Support.
Verification
The issue is resolved when the update prompt no longer appears and the ExtendInsights add-in opens successfully.
