Templates are the foundation of ExtendInsights for HubSpot. They define how Excel maps to HubSpot objects, lists, and analytics data.

This guide explains how templates work and how to build them for common HubSpot workflows.

What Are Templates?

Templates in ExtendInsights define the HubSpot object or field type you'll work with in Excel.

The ExtendInsights Excel Add-in provides an intuitive interface for selecting HubSpot objects, lists, analytics objects, and fields. When a template is loaded into a worksheet, it becomes an Excel table that is bound to the selected HubSpot object, with each column mapped to a corresponding HubSpot field.

When loaded:

Each column maps to a HubSpot field.
Each row represents a HubSpot record.

Templates allow you to:

Download records
Create records
Update records
Delete records (supported objects)

Templates help you efficiently manage HubSpot data without leaving Excel.

Build Your First Template

Step 1: From the list of data sources, select HubSpot.

Step 2: Click Create a Template to build your first template.

Step 3: Select your Active Connection.

Create a new connection or select from the list of previously established connections.

Step 4: Choose the HubSpot object you want to work with.

For example:

Companies
Deals
Tickets
Custom Objects
Lists
Analytics
and more...

Note: Analytics objects are available for reporting and support download only.

Step 5: Select the fields you want to include.

Use the search box to quickly locate fields, then select the ones you need and click Next.

Step 6: Review your template.

Before loading the template, you can:

Rearrange fields using drag and drop
Add additional fields
Remove unwanted fields
Adjust field formats

When finished, click Done.

Step 7: Click Proceed to load the template.

Click Proceed to start with a blank template.

Optional: Enable Preview Button

If you wish to download the first 50 data rows to confirm the data before loading the template.

Important: Ensure the worksheet is empty before loading the template. Existing worksheet data will be cleared.

7. Save the template (Optional)

Click Save As Template to reuse it.

8. Begin working with HubSpot data.

Choose only the fields you need

Selecting fewer fields helps improve download and upload performance.
