If your ExtendSync Google settings reset every time you close and reopen Google Chrome, the issue is usually caused by a Chrome privacy setting that prevents websites from saving data locally.

This article explains how to update your Chrome settings so ExtendSync can retain your preferences.


Symptoms

You may notice one or more of the following:

  • ExtendSync settings are reset after closing Chrome

  • Filters, preferences, or app options do not persist

  • You have to reconfigure ExtendSync each time you reopen Gmail


Why This Happens

ExtendSync stores certain preferences using on-device site data in Chrome.
If Chrome is configured to block or clear site data on exit, those preferences are removed when the browser closes.


How to Fix the Issue (Chrome Settings)

Follow the steps below to allow Chrome to save ExtendSync preferences on your device.

  1. Open Google Chrome.

  2. Click the three dots (⋮) in the top-right corner and select Settings.

  3. Go to Privacy and security.

  4. Click Site settings.

  5. Scroll down and expand Additional content settings.

  6. Select On-device site data.

  7. Under Default behavior, choose:
    Allow sites to save data on your device.

  8. Close Chrome completely.

  9. Reopen Chrome and launch Gmail.

✅ Verify the Fix

After updating the setting:

  • Open ExtendSync in Gmail

  • Update a setting (for example, a filter or preference)

  • Close Chrome

  • Reopen Chrome and Gmail

If the setting is still in place, the issue is resolved.
