Who is required for the initial setup?

Enabling ExtendDocs typically requires up to three roles (these may be the same person):

Thread and Email Address-Based Autopilot (User Driven)

Users decide which emails, threads, or email addresses sync automatically.

Global Autopilot + User Autopilot (Recommended)

Admins automatically sync emails organization-wide, while users can still use Thread and Email Address-Based Autopilot when needed.

Global Autopilot Only (Admin Driven)

Zero Touch. Admins manage all email automation centrally.

Not Sure Which Option to Choose?

Choose Email Autopilot (User Driven) if:

  • Users should decide which emails sync

  • Different users have different preferences

  • You want minimal administrative control

Choose Global Autopilot if:

  • Email syncing should happen automatically

  • You want consistent adoption across the organization

  • Administrators should control exclusions, attachment behavior, and contact creation
