Users have the ability to customize their settings for file attachments and inline images when storing emails to NetSuite.
They can opt to enable both file attachments and inline images as the default setting, or they can configure it to have only file attachments or inline images as the default, depending on their preference.
These preferences act as a sticky setting, meaning your selected option will apply automatically to future emails you save β but you can override it for individual emails anytime.
Setting Your File Attachment Preference
To configure your default attachment behavior:
In the ExtendSync panel, click Menu β Settings β File Attachment Preferences.
Choose one of the four available options described below.
Your choice is saved automatically and will apply to all future manual saves.
π‘ Tip: You can still manually select or deselect attachments per email if needed.
Attachment Preference Options
Option | Description | Best For |
No Attachments or Inline Images | No files are pre-selected. Helps minimize NetSuite storage usage. | Users who rarely save attachments. |
Only Attachments | Automatically includes file attachments but excludes inline images. | Users who primarily attach documents (e.g., PDFs, invoices). |
Only Inline Images | Automatically includes inline images but not file attachments. | Users who need to retain email visuals (e.g., logos, signatures or images on the body of emails). |
Both Attachments and Inline Images | Automatically includes all attachments and inline images for every saved email. | Users who want full content synced by default. |
π‘ Note: This setting is off by default. To include attachments automatically in every manual association, enable the desired option in File Attachment Preferences.
File Size Limits
When syncing files via ExtendSync:
The maximum individual attachment size is 10 MB.
The total email size (including attachments) must not exceed 25 MB.
Where does the file get stored in NetSuite?
When saving emails with attachments via ExtendSync:
Files are uploaded to the NetSuite File Cabinet.
Each file is stored under Documents β Files β Attachments Received.
To Verify Attachments in a NetSuite Record
Open the record in NetSuite.
Go to Communication β Messages tab to view associated files.
For file details, navigate to Documents β Files β Attachments Received in the File Cabinet.
ExtendDocs Users
If your organization uses ExtendDocs, attachments and inline images are stored in OneDrive/SharePoint instead of the NetSuite File Cabinet β helping you save NetSuite storage space.
